Triglycerides

Triglycerides are a form of fat and a major source of energy for the body. A triglycerides test measures the amount of triglycerides in the blood through a blood sample.

The test is often used as part of a lipid panel to monitor your risk of heart disease. Your doctor may order a triglycerides test as part of your regular check-ups or more often if you are considered high risk for heart disease.
