GGT Blood (Gamma Glutamyl Tranferase/Transpeptidase)
Also Known As: GGT, Gamma-Glutamyl Transpeptidase, GGTP, Gamma-GT, GTP
The Gamma-Glutamyl Transferase (GGT) test is used to determine if you have a possible liver or bile duct disease or to differentiate between liver and bone disease as a cause of elevated alkaline phosphatase (ALP). It can also be used to screen for or monitor alcohol abuse.
It measures GGT, an enzyme found mostly in the liver. Elevated levels of GGT can indicate you have a disease which could cause damage to your liver or bile ducts.
