Cortisol

Cortisol is a hormone made in the adrenal glands, which are small glands located near the top of each kidney. This hormone affects many processes in the body and influences the immune system, nervous system, and metabolism. It also plays a role in helping the body respond to stress and is sometimes called “the stress hormone.”
